13th Tirupati Book Festival

With an objective to conserve and promote, awareness about the rich cultures and heritage of the world through Literature, Art, and architecture, mythology and philosophy, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra organized the prestigious 13th Tirupati Book Festival from 2nd February to 10th February, 2019 at S.V.High School Ground, Tirupati.

Holy scriptures such as the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Bhagavad Gita and the Veda Vani - a compilation of four vedas, were brought to the venue in a procession from Mahathi Auditorium in a richly decorated palanquin by Dr N.Satyanarayana Raju, Convenor of the Book Festival, Bhavan's Committee members, staff and students.

Dr Alladi Mohan, Associate Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra, in his welcome address invited the eminent personalities, literates, distinguished guests and said that the Book Festival has completed a Pushkara and has entered the 13th year.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr N Satyanarayana Raju appreciated the book lovers of Tirupati who are the driving force for organizing the book fest every year. As Tirupati has become an educational hub, the book fest caters to the needs of different sects of people.

Saraswathiputra Dr Medasani Mohan, Special Officer, Srinivasa Vangmaya Project, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Tirupati opined that reading literature with concentration is equal to meditation and stated that reading helps one to get connected spiritually.

The day's Chief Guest Shri Anil Kumar Singhal, I.A.S., Executive Officer, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra, in his address said that such book fests are instrumental in inculcating book reading in children and youth. Book reading enhance communication skills, interpersonal skills and helps in moulding the character.

The programme concluded with the felicitations to the guests. Smt S. Indira Principal, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
